In Malaysia, the importance of safety specification on
buying a car stills very low and not a big issue . Several developed country has mandatory
testing rating requirement and list of safety equipment must be install before they can sell
the car there. I think most of us always heard freak accident which the car
break into two pieces, skidded to left and plunge into river.
Even the fate is playing domain roles here but sometimes the
high end safety equipment can save us from more damage and injury.
Talking
about safety rating, I have cross over a recent testing on famous car model in
Malaysia Suzuki Swift CKD 1.4 GLX by Asean NCAP.
In test 2010 by Euro NCAP Suzuki Swift 1.2 GL have achieved
5 star rating where Adult Occupant 94%, Child Occupant 82%, Pedestrian 62% and
Safety Assist 71% .( Euro NCAP Rating
Suzuki Swift Source :http://www.euroncap.com/results/suzuki/swift/2010/403.aspx)
The result shows the car is have 4 star rating category
which scored 13.32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 77% in Child Occupant
Protection (COP) Rating. This Phase II test show Suzuki Swift CKD is best in
his CKD class to achieve these ratings. However the absent of Vehicles
Stability Control (VSC) features on Suzuki Swift has decreased the one star
behind.
The Suzuki Swift CKD 1.4 GLX safety kit consists of dual
airbags, ABS and EBD with brake assist, and the 1,000 kg vehicle rides on
16-inch multi-spoke alloys, wrapped with 185/55 series tyre.
I already bought a Suzuki Swift 1.4 GLX as this is one of
the reason why I choose this car.
