Test Drive Review : Mitsubishi Mirage, Small Cute Panda !!!
Mitsubishi Mirage is small hatchback car and fuel economy is main attraction offered
by Mitsubishi Motor Malaysia. Claimed that fuel saving of 21km /liter, the car is really
good in fuel and handling. The way it presented somehow might attract women
than men because it looks more like a small bunny car.
Inside the interior is nicely presented with not so good
plastic dashboard but nice tone of colors. The dashboard is simple and clean
with glowing light from speedometer. There are 5 color variant offering in
Malaysian market with two versions of GS and GL.
The weight around 865kg the car seems looks heavier than
weight. The Mirage uses an INVECS-III CVT gearbox with 5 speed transmission.
The suspension install with front of Macpherson
struts and a rear torsion beam. The breaks for front are vented discs and rears
are drums. While the steering is the electric EPS with turning circle of 4.4 meter,
which is best in his class. All trim levels wear 14-inch alloys with 165/65 tire.
Driving from JM Auto Gallery, Butterworth , I found this car
is very interesting to drive. Very skeptic on engine performance I tried to
push hard the acceleration and decent rpm reach easily with small amount of
drama. The car some lack of stability during hard cornering due to light
weight. During the stop at traffic light the engine is seem vibrating and this
was irritating factor. The steering ratio not so precise but acceptable.
The GS version came with pricing RM 65,962.15 with insurance
and GL version RM 61,992.15 and manual GL version price RM 56,992.15. It is
fully imported from Thailand, 3 year warranty and 1 year free maintenance
service. Load with safety features ABS, EDB , ISOFIX and dual SRS Airbag is
good bargain for this small car.
Asean NCAP result show 4 star with COP 44% can somehow need
to look by Mitsubishi. As I say girl will love to buy this car. When it decorate with
colorful sticker and it look more like a small panda bear.
